Aerobic Exercise
The term ‘aerobic exercise’ means to exercise with air. The importance and health benefits of aerobic exercise are well documented in many scientific studies so there is no question that it can help you to lose weight and stay fit. There are many ways to perform aerobic exercise, here are a few tips regarding cardiovascular exercises that may help you to maintain a healthy weight:
Tip 1: Do not overdo it
While this may sound negative it is important to realize that too much exercise can weaken your immune system and make you susceptible to illness. One hour of aerobics done 3 to 5 times a week is usually enough for most people. It is not necessary to spend hours and hours running on a treadmill. Shorter and somewhat more intense sessions are the best way to go in most cases.
Tip 2: Use the right equipment
Many people suffer with knee problems or other joint problems that can make running on a treadmill or outdoors very difficult. If you also have back problems then consider using a recumbent exercise bike as it offers great back support and is also very easy on the knees.
Tip 3: Exercise outdoors
Whenever the weather conditions permit make sure to try to get as much exercise as you can in the fresh air outdoors. A brisk walk in the park can be great since you also get the benefit of inhaling fresh outdoor air versus always exercising indoors where the air quality may not be as good.
Tip 4: Work out with a partner
If you can make plans to exercise in the gym with a friend on a regular basis then this can be a great way to stay on track since you will motivate each other to stay on the exercise routines.
Tip 5: Work up a decent sweat each time you exercise
Sweating is a sign that you are exercising your body the right amount and getting a good benefit from each workout session. This does not mean you need to push yourself too hard. Just stay in a heart rate zone of around 130 beats per minute for 20 – 30 minutes and you should find yourself working up a half decent sweat pretty fast. Get a pulse monitor so you can know accurately what your heart rate is at any point during your workouts.
Tip 6: Make it fun
Aerobic exercise can be done in so many different ways. Even playing a round of golf will give you a great aerobic exercise workout for the day. A game of tennis can also give you a very good workout so finding activities that are somewhat physical like golf or tennis can be a great way to get a workout and have fun at the same time. Listen to your favorite music while working out or watch a favorite tv show if you are working out indoors in front of a television set. The more fun you make it the more likely you will be to stick with it and see real lasting results. The ‘Strip That Fat’ program can show effective ways to lose weight and keep it off.
